Taking a Few Steps in the World

The General Chapter is by now underway! With the election of its officials, we have entered the central stage of this event–the throbbing heart of these days that we are spending together so as to scrutinize and discern the paths the Lord is preparing for our Congregation.

Today we began to “take a few steps” in the world. How? While waiting to take a closer look at each individual reality in the different latitudes of the globe, Sr. Anna Maria Parenzan, Superior General, outlined for us the journey made by our Congregation over the past six-year period and the challenges that continue to knock at our door, begging for our attention, passion and heart.

It was a very intense day because putting on special “lenses” to carefully note the many steps taken, the numerous expectations, the still-distant horizons, and then putting on the right “sandals” to walk the road up to this point without trampling any sprouts…is neither easy nor relaxing. But we believe that it is the first step toward entering all together into the experience of our Congregation so as to listen the voice of God and his thoughts in the weaving of this concrete story.

The day ended with a Eucharistic Celebration presided over by His Excellency Marcello Semeraro, Bishop of Albano. With him, we prayed for every brother and sister of this diocese, which is hosting us in this special time of grace and which is also preparing to welcome the visit of Pope Francis.

Tomorrow our “special lenses” will be supplemented by a “microscope” in order to enter with greater detail into some sections of our apostolic life. But that for is tomorrow. Stay tuned!
